Amherst Arbor Day and Sustainability Fair

The Amherst Arbor Day project is proposed to take place on a new park that was established in downtown Amherst in 2008 called Kendrick Park after the family that donated the land to the town. There are many mature landscape plants and shade trees in need of safety pruning, removal, fertilizing and mulching.

Dr. Kane and Dr. Ryan from The Stockbridge School of Agriculture have chosen to hold the schools climbing jamboree at the park as part of the day long celebration along with the Amherst Public Shade Tree Committees' educational program and seedling give away.

Many MCA have attended Stockbridge and UMass and most likely even passed through the land that is now Kendrick Park on their way into town it  would be nice to invite MCA to join in a day of service to care for the trees on this new park in the center of Amherst.

The Town Manager and the Dean of Stockbridge both support this event    and I hope MCA members will as well.
