Valley Community Development Corporation is a nonprofit organization that focuses on the development of affordable housing and other community development issues around housing and economic development..

On one of the properties that we own and manage there is a majestic Elm tree that we've been told is one of very few remaining Elm trees in Northampton. We fear that many of the large branches hanging over the property at 18 Michelman are a threat to the building if the tree was ever hit by lightening or if any of the branches are not healthy. During renovations to the building in 2003, there was some cabling done on the tree but we don't see this is a long-term solution.

Valley CDC does not have the funds or the expertise to determine how to keep this tree healthy. We are seeking the assistance of arborists to help assess the health of the tree and determine a plan of action and a budget to maintain its health, which should include pruning to protect our building.
